Flamobile Contest
3rd Annual UG MIE Competition (starts at 11:45pm)
Sept. 14th, 2005
Sponsored by the Department and the MIE Societies------Undergraduate Student Advisory Board,
ASME, Pi Tau Sigma, ASHRAE, and IIE
Caterpillar generously donated 11 prizes for the Flamobile
Competition in addition to the Bookstore Gift Certificates of $25, $20, and $15
! Our thanks to Samantha Steinberg (UIC-ME alum 2005) who now works at Caterpillar Inc. for donating these prizes and to Angelica Monzon for asking for the prizes on behalf of the MIE students.
As we are the UIC Flames, we will hold the Flamobile Competition!!! MIE students interested in competing are asked to use a small car powered by a mousetrap with a candle attached (see photo at right). The three cars that get closest to an marked spot on the atrium floor without the candle blowing out WIN! (car kits are available at the MIE office, Room 2039

In 2004- In honor of the UIC Flames, we introduced the Flamobile Competition in the Fall of 2003. MIE students interested in competing were asked to build a small car powered by a mousetrap with a candle attached (see photo at right). The car that went the furthest without the candle blowing out WON! (car kits were available at the MIE office.

2004 we gave THREE Motorola Picture Cell Phones each with a retail value of $300- THANK YOU MOTOROLA!!! to the top three cars. Thanks also go to Samantha Steinberg (ASME President) for asking them for this very generous contribution.
Steven Spentzas was the organizer of the event and Professor Megaridis was the Main Judge with Professors Royston and Loth acting as Assistant Judges.
